Benefit Gala Supporting
Hernando Children

We are thrilled to announce the first annual Benefit Gala for Hernando Children, a special event dedicated to making a meaningful difference in the Hernando community. This year, funds raised will support Hernando Parks & Recreation in acquiring adaptive playground equipment designed specifically for children with special needs. By enhancing a local playground with this new equipment, we aim to create an inclusive and enjoyable space where all children in the community can play and thrive together. Your participation will directly contribute to a project that fosters growth and accessibility for every child.

Roots in Community Giving

Before the creation of Southern Community Foundation, the team at Southern Pediatric Therapy was already deeply involved in giving back to the Hernando community. Through events, fundraisers, and special projects, SPT has worked to support local children and families in meaningful ways. Now, with the launch of SCF, this mission continues on a larger scale, allowing us to expand the impact and serve even more families in need.

Past Contributions

  • Book Vending Machine

    SPT was proud to support Oak Grove Central students by sponsoring books for their PBIS vending machine, rewarding positive behaviors with the gift of reading and learning.

  • The Rising Stars Sports Program

    An afternoon of sports fun tailored for kids with special needs. Basketball, dodgeball, pickleball, boxing, and cornhole were offered while providing accommodations and support to ensure every child could enjoy and participate fully.

  • Patient Fundraiser

    Our community and SPT team came together to support a local family in need following a car wreck. Nearly $3500 was raised to provide a down payment on a new car.

  • Buddy Benches

    Students now have a special spot to connect, share, and make new friends with four new “Buddy Benches” installed at Hernando Elementary School.
